چکیده

risk of HDFN, which can cause fetal anemia, hydrops, and intrauterine fetal death. Babies born with HDFN are at significant risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality [1,2]. Prenatal detection of the fetal RhD status in a pregnant woman with RhD-negative provides useful information for predicting the risk of HDFN and Noninvasive fetal RHD genotyping using cell-free fetal DNA incorporating fetal RASSF1A marker in RhD-negative pregnant women in Korea

Fetal RHD Genotyping Using Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Analysis of Cell-Free Fetal DNA in Pregnancy of RhD Negative Women in South of Iran

Objective Maternal-fetal RhD antigen incompatibility causes approximately 50% of clinically significant alloimmunization cases. The routine use of prophylactic anti-D immunoglobulin has dramatically reduced hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn. Recently, fetal RHD genotyping in RhD negative pregnant women has been suggested for appropriate use of anti-D immunoglobulin antenatal prophylaxi...

Hypermethylated RASSF1A in maternal plasma: A universal fetal DNA marker that improves the reliability of noninvasive prenatal diagnosis.

BACKGROUND We recently demonstrated that the promoter of the RASSF1A gene is hypermethylated in the placenta and hypomethylated in maternal blood cells. This methylation pattern allows the use of methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme digestion for detecting the placental-derived hypermethylated RASSF1A sequences in maternal plasma. METHODS We performed real-time PCR after methylation-sensi...

Noninvasive fetal RHD genotyping from maternal plasma in an admixed Brazilian population.

We evaluated the efficacy of noninvasive fetal Rhesus D (RHD) genotyping from maternal plasma in a highly admixed population. Fifty-five blood samples from RhD-negative pregnant women from Brazil were processed for extraction of cell-free plasma DNA. Real-time PCR was performed to amplify segments of exons 5 and 7 from the RHD gene, as well as for detection of the SRY gene to confirm the presen...

Routine administration of Anti-D: the ethical case for offering pregnant women fetal RHD genotyping and a review of policy and practice

BACKGROUND Since its introduction in the 1960s Anti-D immunoglobulin (Anti-D Ig) has been highly successful in reducing the incidence of haemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) and achieving improvements to maternal and fetal health. It has protected women from other invasive interventions during pregnancy and prevented deaths and damage amongst newborns and is a technology which has...
